Spinning a low impact exciting fitness exercise Spinning, also known as studio or indoor cycling, was originally designed to help train professional cyclists, but it has now taken the exercise world by storm. Known for its upbeat music, the demanding voice of the instructor, dim lights and the sound of many bikes working together, the studio cycling class is extremely challenging. Other pluses: Studio cycling is a low-impact exercise that's easier on the joints than running or aerobics. Also, many people find the team aspect very appealing.
Or maybe it's because you'll burn an average of 500 calories per 40-minute ride. Or maybe it's because regardless of your fitness level, you'll get a heart pounding yet low-impact workout-while maintaining the ability to go at your own pace.
Whatever the reason, millions worldwide have found a lot to love about the Spinning program.
The Spinning program is the original and most popular group cycling class. And it's not just because Spinning is an unmatched way to make your fitness goals a reality. With no complicated moves to learn, a motivating group environment, top-notch instructors and music that begs your legs to pedal, you'll find yourself having a blast while you ride your way to a leaner, stronger body.
Spin classes begin with a warm-up, followed by a cardiovascular workout in which you are challenged by varying terrain. This includes intervals of hill climbing, speed work, and upper and lower body emphasis. Participants in spin classes range from beginning to advanced cyclists. You choose the pace and degree of resistance. Spin classes are great for special populations; i.e. those rehabilitating from an injury, requiring very low-impact activities, or suffering from overuse injuries. Great motivation keeps you going and coming back! You will be more inclined to stay for the full workout as your instructor and the presence of other riders encourage you along.
